My Visual Basic Programs: My comfort level with VB is pretty high. I can do quite a bit in this language. The examples that I have posted here, for downloads, are just small programs. I usually spent anywhere from one day to one week on these. Ok, here are a few of them:
Fun_Ware: This is the HDD formatting joke. A few years ago, my dad
sent something like this to me. It freaked me out. So, I wanted
to recreate it. I wanted to add some kind of fake huge binary file to
make it sound like the program was really working the drive (noise).
I also want to add the capability of going through every file and displaying
them (pretend format, of course). Anyway, enjoy
Dice Simulator for Warhammer 40k: Here
it is. This is almost complete. I found a bug in it and haven't
fixed it yet (just lazy). I don't remember what the bug was. I
think it occurs after you run through the attack button; all the way to the
armour save page. The total amount dead keeps incrementing. It
doesn't really affect the program. You know how many troops failed the
armour save anyway. It's just a little annoying. I probably forgot
to zero the integer upon the form unload. oops. Enjoy anyway
Winsys32x: This one is funny; for you. It's not very funny to your
(ahem) 'mark'. This is something I did to satisfy the practical joker
in me. It hides from the taskbar and task manager. It installs
to the startup folder and is named Winsys32x to hopefully keep the 'mark'
from deleting it (thinking it's an important file). It randomly reverses
the mouse buttons, jiggles the mouse cursor, and randomly beeps from the PC
speaker. After you hit someone with this, be nice and help them uninstall
it.
Planets: This is my dad's program (Steve Napier for the 'surfers).
I think this is awesome because of the elusive gravity algorithm. Elusive
because it is written in the old BASIC (with the line numbers) and dad can't
remember how to recreate the gravity algorithm. DAMN! We are both planning
to create Planets 2000. I have some good ideas for this and would like
to develope this with him. Look at the Planets
2000 teaser splash screen. Anyway, kudos to dad. This is a
fun game. To exit the game, you have to Cntrl + Brk
States: This is a lame program. Don't waste your time, unless you
can't help yourself. It was an assignment for class and I kept it.
Read the readme file to help you get the game started. It explains how
to move the DAT file. The States program requires this to run.
Japanese
Flashcards: I made the crappy States program better. I found a use for
it so I retooled the states program to read off of a new DAT file that contains
Japanese and English words and phrases. Just match them up and check your
score. As with States, you must read the readme file to know where to put
the dat file. The program won't run without it.
